Stephanie Rhoades Hume

Detroit Photographer, with a passion for capturing life.

I’m Stephanie Rhoades Hume, a freelance Detroit photographer, living and breathing in the city. I’ve had a camera in my hands since as I was a kid, starting off with my mom’s old 35mm Canon film camera, to my current Canon 5D.

I spent years working in a studio, where I learned how to photograph portraits and work with lights. I have also photographed countless weddings, as well as commercial and product photos. My true passion is in my fine art photography of the city, but I always love getting the chance to photograph portraits for someone, whether they are senior pictures or a bride on her wedding day.

I was also awarded a fellowship with Facing Change: Documenting DETROIT and completed the fellowship in September 2018. I documented the events and tributes resulting from the passing of Detroit’s own, Aretha Franklin. The photos were displayed on the south wall of the Detroit Institute of Arts in mid-September and projected on the Dequindre Cut in mid-October of the same year, as well as displayed in Photoville NYC in 2019 at the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza.
